WWE Pushes Undertaker’s WrestleMania Win Over Triple H

When the current Triple H vs. Undertaker feud first got underway, reports emerged that Vince McMahon directed the WWE team not to make continued reference to the wrestlers’ WrestleMania X-Seven bout. WWE wanted to portray Triple H’s quest to defeat ‘Taker at this year’s WrestleMania as career-goal based purely on ending the streak–not based on the vengeance of losing ten years ago.

Of note, however, is the fact that WWE still makes explicit reference to that match on its WrestleMania website. The write-up explains, “Precisely 10 years ago, the two respected and feared Superstars squared off on The Grandest Stage of Them All at WrestleMania X-Seven. During that contest, the action spilled outside the ring in a memorable display of power and determination. In the end, The Demon of Death Valley prevailed by pinfall.”

That article was first posted on March 10; reports highlighting the paragraph emerged as late as this Friday afternoon on sites like F4WOnline.com. But, as of press time, WWE is still preserving its reference to that match.
