WWE Interested in Shawn Michaels Return Angle?, WrestleMania Plans

There are no indications that Shawn Michaels has any plans to come out of retirement as an active wrestler, but a F4WOnline.com story notes that WWE has become some internal dialogue about finding HBK a role at WrestleMania.

While there is no confirmation as to whether he has been approached about the gig or whether he would even consider appearing, creative reportedly began thinking of some ideas for the legendary wrestler in the wake of his promotional work for the WrestleMania on-sale date.

One idea called for Michaels to effectively perform the task originally slated for Brock Lesnar–to serve as a guest referee for Undertaker’s match on the show. Insofar as Undertaker was responsible, in storyline, for Michaels’ retirement based on the outcome of their last match, WWE would tease the idea that a bitter HBK would ‘screw’ Undertaker out of the match to ruin the veteran’s undefeated streak. Clearly, that would not end up happening, but it would add some intrigue to the build.

In addition to the issue of actually courting Shawn Michaels, there is still concern about whether Undertaker will even be available for the show. Undertaker’s status, in light of his shoulder injury, is viewed as “touch and go” for WrestleMania, and a final verdict on his ability to appear might not come until the new year. Undertaker has expressed optimism about appearing, but WWE will likely hold off on booking his match, ideally the main-event, until it gets a firmer word on his availability.
