The low-rated WWE NXT was unable to secure a permanent television home, but sources say WWE’s “become a wrestler” series format could be here to stay. Deadline.com reports that USA Network is close to ordering a revival of wrestling reality series “Tough Enough,” which used to air on MTV.
Though a comparison is made in the report to the final season of “Tough Enough,” which aired as part of the weekly WWE SmackDown! telecast on UPN, the plan is for the revival to function as its own weekly series. Nonetheless, set to run “in tandem” with WWE RAW, the show will undoubtedly use the Monday night staple as a promotional platform and will likely be booked in the post-RAW timeslot on Monday nights.
The move is part of USA Network’s push to introduce new programming platforms. Having achieved repeated success with light-hearted character dramas and dramedies, the network is looking to introduce reality and half-hour programs to its lineup.
