A Twitter post, allegedly from Hogan himself, claiming that Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan were leaving Total Nonstop Action Wrestling has been revealed as fraudulent, and TNA personalities continue to confirm the inaccuracy of the story.
Following Eric Bischoff’s claim that a Twitter account allegedly belonging to Hulk Hogan featured fake posts–even though Bischoff, himself, had apparently linked to the account–came an additional claim from TNA President Dixie Carter that the story was untrue.
Wrote Carter, “Recent twitter of Hulk Hogan leaving TNA is bogus. To what extreme people will go.”
Earlier Wednesday, a series of posts on Hulk Hogan’s supposed account claimed that he and Bischoff were departing TNA after less than a year with the organization. The posts were quickly removed, and Bischoff quickly denied that the posts came from Hulk Hogan and added that the story, itself, was false.
Because Bischoff had previously endorsed the Hogan account with a link, there was a question about whether Bischoff was being entirely honest or whether he was simply covering up for an announcement that should not yet have been made public.
An answer came shortly after, with the person behind the account revealing it was a worked announcement meant to make TNA brass look bad.
The account holder admitted he was not Hogan and wrote, “@EBischoff GOT WORKED BROTHERS! He publishes information before even verifying its accuracy. How can someone like this even try to run TNA.”
He later added, “I am not Hulk Hogan, but I am a TNA wrestler who got Eric, BTLS, Jarrett, and Dixie to think I was Hogan.”
