While many TNA wrestlers are under the impression that Paul Heyman will be joining the company soon, there is no definitive word that he will end up being the subject of TNA’s planned “big news”–some sources, in fact, believe he has definitely not yet reached a deal with the company and will not be appearing on Victory Road.
TNA had been hoping to get Heyman on tonight’s show to kick the ECW invasion angle into high gear, but as of this afternoon, there was an increasingly strong feeling of pessimism about its chances of happening.
According to F4WOnline.com, Paul Heyman was, at last word, in New York and still several negotiating points away from striking a deal to join Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in both a backstage and on-air capacity. There is a lot of internal pressure on TNA management to make the deal happen as part of a plan to turn things around, but while it thus seems inevitable that TNA will make a solid attempt to meet Heyman’s demands, it was not clear that such a deal was capable of being made between Sunday afternoon and the evening’s Victory Road pay-per-view.
For what it is worth, the F4W story explained that Heyman had been the intended subject of at least one past TNA “surprise,” only for plans to fall through at the last minute. The expectation was that if TNA was counting on the Heyman deal to be done by tonight’s PPV, it has probably “fallen through” again, although now there is at least a strong level of confidence that the deal will happen soon.
