In a bit of irony, one of the motivators behind WWE’s plan to transform its B-level pay-per-views into themed events was the apparent downfall of Survivor Series, one of its original gimmick PPVs.
WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon had publicly dismissed the event as tired, and it appeared WWE was going to start a new tradition for its November event.
But, as of press time, WWE has yet to remove Survivor Series from marketing. In fact, a PWInsider.com report says that ads pushing the Survivor Series PPV, scheduled for Miami, FL on November 21, aired during Monday’s RAW from the same city.
Based on the fact that the ad claimed tickets would go on sale this week, it certainly appears likely that WWE is keeping the Survivor Series event alive in 2010, although the company still could be in the process of devising a suitable replacement.
