Though not a wrestling program by definition, MTV’s 2010 Movie Awards presentation Sunday featured a number of names who are far from strangers to the World Wrestling Entertainment Universe.
Among those present were Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Bradley Cooper and Ken “Dr. Ken” Jeong. While Johnson’s connection to WWE is hardly a mystery, the weekly guest hosting concept also enabled A-list actor Cooper and “Community” star Jeong to have standing with WWE fans.
Cooper, who joins his “The A-Team” castmates Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Sharlto Copley on Monday’s RAW from Miami, was one of the show’s most featured celebrities. In addition to being nominated for a comedy award and presenting the “best kiss” prize with “A-Team” co-star Jessica Biel, Cooper also took the lead in honoring Sandra Bullock with the MTV Generation Award. Betty White and Scarlett Johansson joined Cooper for the latter moment.
Jeong, who joined then-“The Goods” co-star Jeremy Piven on a critically-panned episode of RAW last summer, won the Best WTF Moment award for his antics in “The Hangover.” In one of the night’s more emotional moments, Jeong teared up as he discussed how his wife’s victory in a battle with breast cancer gives him perspective as a risk-taking comedy performer.
Earlier in the night, Jeong wore a skimpy tiger outfit as he danced in support of his “The Hangover” co-star Ed Helms’ “Stu’s Song.”
— On the subject of Monday’s “A-Team”-hosted edition of RAW, WWE.com has yet to post ballots (or even substantial details) for the “Viewer’s Choice” component. WWE had confirmed that the voting was to go live Monday, but many anticipated WWE would try to build more hype for the episode and website voting in advance of June 7.
