The future was the theme on WWE RAW this week, as the company pushed a number of rising Superstars on the Memorial Day edition of the show.
While WWE is known for start-and-stop hesitancy when it comes to pushing new talent, a number of new stars received at least one opportunity to shine in front of WWE’s largest weekly audience.
The most high-profile attention came for Evan Bourne, who after unsuccessfully calling out Edge in the opening segment, got the chance to pin Sheamus in the main-event. He teamed with John Cena to defeat Sheamus and Edge in the show closer.
Daniel Bryan also got the chance to shine, defeating The Miz via pinfall in a short match. And though it looked like WWE would put heat back on Miz with a post-match beat down, Bryan recovered, tossing Miz into Michael Cole in a crowd-pleasing moment.
Hardly a fresh face, R-Truth was nonetheless pushed by the announcers as a rising superstar Monday. His clean win over Chris Jericho was thus treated as a rookie beating a veteran to prove he belongs at the top of the heap.
Meanwhile, after debuting last week with a surprise beatdown of The Hart Dynasty, the Usos and Tamina received another chance to get over by way of an introductory promo and another successful assault on the Hart trio.
