“Sugar” Rashad Evans remains the betting favorite as the mixed martial arts community stands just hours from UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva. At one point set to be a marquee card with names like Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin and Anderson Silva on the card, it now focuses on a pivotal light heavyweight contest between Evans and Thiago Silva.
Both would cement their status as legitimate title contenders with a win; in Evans’ case, the outcome will also dictate the urgency of his inevitable grudge bout with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. UFC President Dana White recently said that Evans needs to win to make that fight happen this spring, and as that would most likely be the most anticipated and purchased show of Evans’ career, he has a lot riding on victory.
Also on the card: Dustin Hazelett vs. Paul Daley and Gilbert Yvel vs. Junior dos Santos
