Against virtually no first-run competition on network television (and a moderately-viewed Monday Night Football game on ESPN), Monday’s edition of WWE RAW still failed to post an impressive rating.
The show did a 3.18 cable rating (2.7 household) with relatively steady viewership from hour one to hour two. From 9-11:01PM, the show averaged 4.835 million viewers with a 1.65 in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic.
There are two ways to look at the rating–on the one hand, the show faced significantly less competition than it usually does (from both sports and non-sports programs) and thus was in better position to grab viewers. On the other hand, the holiday season definitely dampens television viewership and thus limits the degree to which a ratings surge should have been expected.
