— In the wake of news that Massachusetts has legalized mixed martial arts comes an immediate UFC desire to book a show in Boston.
“It was just a big celebration here,” said UFC regulatory VP Marc Ratner in an interview with The Boston Herald. “We’re very bullish on the Northeast and Massachusetts. We’re as excited to come to Boston as any city.”
Ratner forecast a Boston debut for July or August of 2010.
— Josh Koscheck did not get his wish for a number one contender’s match with Dan Hardy–Hardy has been promised an immediate shot at Georges St. Pierre’s Welterweight gold. He will, however, get a shot at redemption, as multiple sources confirm that a Koscheck-Paulo Thiago rematch is in the works for UFC 109.
Thiago surprisingly knocked out the welterweight veteran in February; both are coming off successful outings at UFC 106.
