Rumors within the wrestling world continue to claim an argument between Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon played a role in the latter’s decision to resign from the company.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter initially acknowledged speculation that some sort of blow-up might have contributed to Shane’s departure, with the reservation on that story being the fact that Shane was to continue in his EVP of Global Media position through the end of the year. The feeling was that if something truly major had happened, he would not have continued working as he tied up loose ends for the position.
A report that came out this week that is being credited to PWInsider, however, brings back the blow-up rumors, noting that Shane and Vince had a disagreement over an issue at the company’s home office in Stamford. This led to a heated argument, which ultimately resulted in Shane deciding to walk away from the business.
As sourcing on the report is unconfirmed, it remains a rumor. And, if that is indeed the story of what happened, it remains unclear what specific argument led to the blow-up.
