As this past summer drew to a close, there was talk that WWE was interested in signing numerous Ring of Honor workers to deals. With ROH continuing to strive for global exposure, WWE felt motivated to acquire any talent with the potential to become big players on a national or international stage.
Within weeks of the story breaking, news came that Bryan Danielson had reached an agreement “in principle” to sign with WWE. Soon after, Nigel McGuinness did the same. Unfortunately for those hoping to see McGuinness return to the WWE ring in a more substantial way, it appears that the deal is dead.
ProWrestling.net reports that McGuinness opted to sign with TNA because WWE took too long to prepare and send the written contract. McGuinness debuted at tonight’s iMPACT! taping, so it appears to be more than posturing–he has indeed decided to go with the number two wrestling group.
