Will Undertaker Retire From WWE?, Latest On His Status

— As Undertaker was making his WWE return this summer, talk quickly moved to the fact that he was not physically at 100%. Undertaker’s very noticeable wear-and-tear led to speculation that he would be retiring come WrestleMania 26.

While the aforementioned reality, combined with Undertaker’s own acknowledgment that he is not in peak condition, is still fueling such speculation, there is presently no indication that Taker is planning to retire.

The wrestler is currently being advertised for an Australian tour in the summer of 2010. WWE’s advertisement campaigns are produced prematurely and are thus not always good indicators of what will happen in the company’s future, but the fact that WWE is already billing Taker for events next year cements the idea that he has not at all committed to a retirement at WrestleMania 26.

Further, most close to the situation believe Undertaker, at least in the next few years, would not retire in a “definitive” manner; he would at least keep the option open for limited in-ring appearances.

And, if that evidence does not make Undertaker fans somewhat hopeful that the World Champion will continue beyond WM26, history also provides some optimism. There had been talk as early as 1998 that Undertaker would have to walk away due to his injuries, and he has managed to continue competing for more than ten years.
