While the gimmick could elevate the upcoming WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view to a strong buyrate for a B-show, the concept is not winning praise from the lockerroom.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is on the receiving end of criticism from writers and wrestlers alike.
On the writing side, it creates a burden, as the creative team has to book three (likely consecutive) Hell in a Cell matches and find a way to make each unique, fresh and memorable.
Among wrestlers, particularly veterans, there is concern that the anti-blood rule puts a damper on the efficacy of the gimmick. There have been some bloody Cell matches before, and with blood presumably still off the table, it becomes harder to work a distinguished match.
