WWE’s Plans For This Week, Including Mysterio Update, Title Change

— With Summerslam and the immediate fallout over, WWE begins building towards its fall on television this week. RAW, to be taped in Detroit, features Dusty Rhodes as guest host (who the MSN TV Guide called a “shocking surprise” host). Earlier this month, rumors suggested that LeBron James was in the running to guest host this week’s show–it was also WWE’s desired date for the Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal encounter. Currently, neither NBA name is expected to appear on the show.

— All talk for Tuesday’s SmackDown! taping is centered on Rey Mysterio, who works his last pre-suspension date at the event. Most believe WWE will book him to lose the Intercontinental Championship; ideas thrown around include having Dolph Ziggler win the belt outright, or having Ziggler cost Mysterio the belt in a match with another opponent. No matter which idea WWE selects, it appears that Ziggler will play a role and keep the heat alive for a resumed feud when Mysterio returns.
