WWE Show Not Airing In Major Market, UFC on RAW?

— Confirmed television listings for this weekend reveal that New York’s NBC 4 will not be airing the heavily-hyped WrestleMania 25 special. Set to instead air the preseason NFL game between the New York Giants and New York Jets, NBC 4 removes a major US market–the New York metropolitan area–from the WrestleMania viewership equation.

— An ESPN/Sherdog write-up on Floyd Mayweather’s RAW hosting gig noted that UFC, which has a pay-per-view card going head-to-head with the Mayweather-Marquez fight on September 19, is unlikely to agree to have one of its fighters serve as a guest host for WWE’s flagship show.

“It’s also a feat that’s not likely to be duplicated by the UFC, which has long held a slightly hypocritical attitude toward Vince McMahon’s theatrics,” read the article, referring to the fact that despite having a former pro wrestling champion as its biggest star in Brock Lesnar, UFC has generally worked to distance itself from the “entertainment” side of WWE.
