Summerslam News: Crowd Against Mysterio?, DX, Heavy TNA Presence

— Number two wrestling organization Total Nonstop Action had a big presence at WWE’s Summerslam festivities, with on-site correspondents confirming that TNA street team members were handing out Sting masks prior to Sunday’s WWE pay-per-view. TNA Bound for Glory, likely to be hyped as Sting’s final wrestling event, will emanate from California. (Source: PWInsider.com)

— Though most reports say the crowd excitement at WWE Summerslam was mediocre, the DX ring entrance got over in a big way with the live crowd. While WWE ended up booking DX vs. Legacy several notches from the top, it was clear that Shawn Michaels and Triple H were the biggest attractions at the show.

— In popping for DX, the crowd played into the wishes of WWE, which placed a lot of late promotional emphasis on the DX return. The crowd was not, however, completely aligned with the creative team’s visions for the Superstars. Both Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler received a solid amount of cheers Sunday, despite working against babyfaces John Cena and Rey Mysterio, respectively.
