In his heavily hyped Friday press conference, UFC President Dana White announced news items that once again failed to live up to the billing. Nothing particularly crazy or unexpected was revealed during the chat with reporters, but White did confirm a number of rumored UFC tidbits.
— UFC 100 did over 1.5 million buys. Though White did not reveal the specific number, he did imply that he will be jumping off the Mandalay Bay arena (prior to the event, White had said that if the show beat 1.5 million buys, he would jump off the Las Vegas venue).
— Fedor is not signed. White said that Fedor would never be offered a deal like the one UFC offered, but his camp still turned the deal down.
— Vitor Belfort has been booked for the UFC 103 main event. Belfort will replace Dan Henderson as Rich Franklin’s opponent; White said that he changed the fight due to widespread complaints from fans.
— Tito Ortiz is back in the UFC. Set to fight at 205, he will “retire in UFC.”
