The latest issue of Canada’s “Movie Entertainment” magazine features the latest clue on Shawn Michaels’ WWE return.
According to correspondents from the region, the ad, which is hyping WWE Summerslam, lists a number of confirmed names for the event. The list includes John Cena, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Jeff Hardy, Triple H, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Edge and Shawn Michaels.
Since Edge went down with an injury earlier this summer and will not be wrestling on the show, copy for the advertisement was completed over a month ago; it thus cannot be used as a surefire indicator of WWE’s plans. Nonetheless, the fact that WWE, at some point in the past few months, was eyeing a Michaels return for the big August pay-per-view does suggest a match or appearance involving HBK is likely for the event.
Jim Ross has repeatedly mentioned the likelihood of a Shawn Michaels involvement at the show in his blog, and all indications are that no recent development would override such plans and cause WWE to delay the Michaels comeback.
That, of course, does not mean the return is guaranteed–until Michaels is advertised during the broadcast portion of a WWE television event, the Summerslam date is just a rumor.
