After months of anticipation for an Undertaker return by Summerslam, Jim Ross provided fans with pessimistic news on the veteran wrestler’s status this week.
According to Ross, Undertaker is now eyeing a September return. He acknowledges that the date is not official, but he made it clear in his latest blog post that Summerslam is no longer the target for Undertaker.
Internally, sources were still hoping Taker could return next month, largely due to the questionable status of Jeff Hardy. With Hardy on his way out, at least for a brief hiatus, The Undertaker is very valuable to the SmackDown! roster. WWE wants to minimize downtime between Hardy’s exit and Undertaker’s entrance, so the hope is that Undertaker could return in some capacity by summer’s end.
Ross maintained the notion that Shawn Michaels could be back for Summerslam.
