TV Website Treats WWE’s Trump Storyline As Legitimate

Critical descriptions of Donald Trump’s acting on Monday’s RAW included assessments like “stilted” and “phoned in.” But as far as a popular TV website is concerned, the word “convincing” is best suited for the performance.

TVByTheNumbers reported news of Donald Trump purchasing Monday Night RAW as fact. The website posted the USA Network press release under the title, “Donald Trump Buys WWE’s Monday Night RAW.”

After receiving a firestorm of criticism from readers, the website later changed the title to “Fictional? Donald Trump Buys WWE’s Monday Night RAW.” Interestingly, the article author did not appear certain the storyline was a work, noting “If it is indeed fiction, then just enjoy.”

In a later update on the ratings for last week’s RAW, the website noted, “allegedly WWE RAW was just purchased by Donald Trump – The Donald made Vince an offer he couldn’t refuse — whether like the show, that announcement was for entertainment purposes only, we’ll see!” Again, the story’s writer remains open to the idea that WWE’s announcement during RAW was real.

For the record, it was not. Since it does apparently need to be said, the “sale” of Monday Night RAW to Donald Trump is a storyline.
