New WWE Announcer, Even More on Mysterio, Creative Team

— Though WWE did have the Lilian Garcia prototype in mind when it posted its advertisement for a new female ring announcer, any claim that the company is looking to replace Garcia with the new, younger female talent is incorrect, at least as far as the foreseeable future is concerned.

— Even though Rey Mysterio’s appearances on this week’s RAW and SmackDown! should permanently put to bed the rumors that he “gave notice” last week, some of the wrestlers that originally discussed the claim reportedly still believe it was true (presumably arguing that Mysterio quit WWE only to later agree to remain with the company). As far as his alleged heat with WWE officials over money is concerned, he did indeed meet with management to discuss that issue, although the seriousness of such talks remains unclear. Wrestlers without substantially large downside guarantees have faced minor financial hits recently (given the fact that the live gates are slightly down) but there is no indication that it is a problem of any significance for the lockerroom.

— The creative team has been under huge stress lately, with the combination of a high frequency of shows plus changes due to issues such as Batista’s injury and Umaga’s release taking its toll on the writers.
