Several films debuted at the US box office Friday.<\/p>\n

None fared as well as “Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween.”<\/p>\n

The sequel closed Friday with $7.5 million in US receipts.<\/p>\n

Based on that Friday performance, “Boo 2!” should reach $18-24 million by the close of the weekend.<\/p>\n

Those figures trail those of 2016’s “Boo! A Madea Halloween,” which earned $9.5 million on opening day and $28.5 million in its first weekend.<\/p>\n

“Boo 2!” nonetheless ranks as the top film at the current US box office.<\/p>\n

Its closest Friday competition came from “Geostorm,” which earned a disappointing $4.3 million on Friday.<\/p>\n

“Happy Death Day,” last weekend’s winner, took third place with $3.0 million in Friday receipts. New release “Only The Brave” disappointed with just $2.1 million, while holdover “Blade Runner 2049” grabbed fifth place with $2.0 million.<\/p>\n

— This weekend’s other new releases included “Same Kind Of Different As Me” and “The Snowman.” The former took seventh place with $1.4 million in Friday earnings, while the latter grabbed eighth place with $1.3 million.<\/p>\n
