Last week’s “Lucifer” brought more progress in the title character’s effort to bring his mother and brother back to Heaven. He discovered that the flaming sword needed to cut through Heaven’s Gates consists of three pieces: the blade, the “belt buckle” they acquired last week, and another piece.<\/p>\n

This week’s episode involves the quest to find that final piece.<\/p>\n

It also involves some fallout for Dr. Linda, investigation into the emotions of Maze and Amenadiel, and a case with high stakes for Lucifer’s mother.<\/p>\n

Headline Planet screened the episode, which is entitled “Sympathy For The Goddess” and airs at 9PM ET\/PT Monday night on FOX.<\/p>\n

Amenadiel: Frustrated By Favoritism<\/strong>
\nThe episode finds Amenadiel continuing to wrestle with an iteration of Jan Brady Syndrome. No matter how responsibly, intelligently or loyally Amenadiel behaves, Lucifer seemingly remains the favorite of his two divine parents. Lucifer is the Marcia to Amenadiel’s Jan.<\/p>\n

The belief that Lucifer — as “the light bringer” — is the key to igniting the sword and re-entering Heaven only compounds Amenadiel’s insecurity.<\/p>\n

Maze Grapples With Lucifer’s (Apparent) Abandonment<\/strong>
\nThe viewer knows that Lucifer has no intention of actually returning to Heaven. He simply plans to let his mother in and return to Earth.<\/p>\n

Maze does not know of Lucifer’s actual plan. As far as she knows, he is planning to permanently relocate to his home — a place she cannot enter. She, justifiably, feels like she is being abandoned.<\/p>\n

Maze tries to conceal her feelings, but the events in this episode bring them to a boil.<\/p>\n

Linda Could Lose Her License<\/strong>
\nIf you thought it was weird that Linda – a licensed doctor – helped Lucifer escape from a mental institution last week, you’re not alone. The medical ethics board also has a problem with it.<\/p>\n

Linda finds herself under investigation for her behavior.<\/p>\n

Lucifer and Maze both want to help, but given their personalities, there is probably reason to fear they (particularly Lucifer) will do more harm than good.<\/p>\n

Case-Of-The-Week: A Murder With Consequences<\/strong>
\nThe weekly murder investigations are not always connected to the overarching narrivate. This week’s case absolutely is.<\/p>\n

As the episode opens, Lucifer’s mother has seemingly located the final piece needed to ignite the sword. She pays a man (who is connected to a crime family she represents as “Charlotte”) in exchange for the artifact.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the plan goes awry. The man is robbed and murdered while retrieving the item from a safe. All signs (and a phone errantly left at the scene) point to the murder and robbery being an inside job, putting Lucifer’s mother in an awkward spot.<\/p>\n

On the one hand, she needs to work with the police to identify the culprit and track down the item. On the other hand, she is the defense attorney tasked with representing the likely suspect.<\/p>\n

How will she navigate the balance? You’ll have to watch to find out!<\/p>\n

Chloe & Charlotte, Dan & Amenadiel<\/strong>
\n“Lucifer” loves to feature “strange bedfellows” dynamics, and this week’s episode is no different.<\/p>\n

Chloe and Charlotte end up working a case together. Dan and Amenadiel, meanwhile, find time to bond.<\/p>\n

Chloe, The Groupie<\/strong>
\nChloe has been doing some interesting undercover work in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Monday’s episode asks her to go undercover yet again.<\/p>\n

The gig itself seems pretty straightforward; she is simply attending a swanky party to gather intelligence about the potential murderer.<\/p>\n

When things do not go as planned, Chloe is forced to call an audible — of the “groupie” variety.<\/p>\n

More About The Light<\/strong>
\nTwo episodes ago, we received some insight into why Lucifer’s mother is so urgent in her desire to return home. She has a cut\/opening on her wrist, from which an odd light seems to be beaming. The full story behind the light was not abundantly clear, but it was obviously nothing good.<\/p>\n

In this week’s episode, we learn — through a rather startling experience — more about the light that seems to be beaming from her body.<\/p>\n
