If projections hold, the total will mark a significant increase from the impressive 592,000 debut total for her Grammy-winning 2008 release “Fearless.”<\/p>\n
Hits Daily Double, which creates its forecasts based on opening day sales data, currently projects Swift’s third full-length release to move at least 800-900,000 units in its first week. There are signs that the total could go higher, with insiders viewing a debut total on par with the 1.01 million for Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” as a possibility.<\/p>\n
Reasons for the optimism do exist–in addition to Swift generating late buzz for a number of singles from the album, forecasts have previously been less accurate when predicting totals for Monday releases. Eminem’s “Recovery,” for instance, outperformed its initial forecast by a sizable margin en route to scoring the top opening week of 2010.<\/p>\n
