Both the pro wrestling and mixed martial arts communities were caught off guard Saturday night when a UFC 121 staredown between WWE wrestler The Undertaker and just-defeated UFC Champion Brock Lesnar sparked rumors of a WrestleMania match.<\/p>\n
As Lesnar left the very ring in which Cain Velasquez scored a first round TKO victory to take his UFC Heavyweight Championship, he exchanged eye contact with his former WWE colleague The Undertaker. Undertaker then asked Lesnar, “You wanna do it,” at which point, Lesnar broke the stare and continued making his way to the back.<\/p>\n
All indications at the time were that Vince McMahon’s WWE wanted to put together a Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker mega-match for the 2011 edition of WrestleMania. Whether one used common sense or asked around the industry, the initial reaction was clear–such a match simply seems implausible insofar as Lesnar is a contracted Ultimate Fighter.<\/p>\n
UFC President Dana White cemented that sentiment in an interview with TMZ.<\/p>\n
“Brock Lesnar is still under contract with the UFC … he is not going to wrestle in the WWE. He cannot wrestle, box or fight anywhere else,” said White.<\/p>\n
