Given that he is the biggest name in the company, John Cena’s scheduled WWE WrestleMania match seemed rather underwhelming.<\/p>\n
He was to partner with his real-life girlfriend Nikki Bella in a mixed tag match against real-life married couple The Miz and Maryse.<\/p>\n
On paper, it was the epitome of a midcard, throwaway match.<\/p>\n
The segment was not, however, really<\/i> about the match. It was about what followed.<\/p>\n
After he and Nikki defeated their foes, Cena told a story about how he asked Nikki a question while she was in a haze for her neck surgery. She was obviously not going to remember the question in her state, but he would tell her what it was at a later date.<\/p>\n
The question, obviously, was whether she would marry him. WrestleMania was the later date.<\/p>\n
Cena got down on one knee to reiterate the question, and Nikki obviously accepted. They hugged and kissed to a mixed reaction from the crowd.<\/p>\n
