Recent word going around the WWE lockerroom suggests that the company is looking at unifying all of its major championships over the course of the next year.<\/p>\n
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan calls for WWE to condense its belt roster to a WWE World Championship, an Intercontinental Championship, a Tag Team Championship and a Women’s Championship. With WWE’s title belts arguably meaning less than they have at any point in the past few decades, the feeling is that a unification process would help reverse the trend and add significance to the championships.<\/p>\n
Standing in the way is the fact that WWE, by virtue of its roster split, divides the roster up for house shows and television tapings. Switching to one of each “class” of championship would mean that the live shows would not always have matches involving the key champions.<\/p>\n
