Earlier this week, Headline Planet broke the news that The Band Perry would be performing on the February 7 “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”<\/a><\/p>\n

Given that the trio does not have an active single on the charts, many wondered what it would be playing on the show.<\/p>\n

We may have our answer.<\/p>\n

In a Thursday night Facebook post, The Band Perry declared that it will soon be releasing an album called “My Bad Imagination.” “Stay In The Dark,” the first single from the album, arrives late Thursday\/early Friday.<\/p>\n

Far from a throwaway album announcement, The Band Perry’s post confirms something rather newsworthy: “My Bad Imagination” will be the group’s first pop<\/i> album.<\/p>\n

“We’ve made an album for you,” explains the announcement. “Creating it has been the most exciting thing we’ve ever done. It’s led us to disrupt everything that was comfortable and familiar to us a short year ago. If there’s one thing we’ve learned in making it it’s this – being yourself matters. It matters even when not everyone agrees that you should be or understands why it’s important that you are.<\/p>\n

“Thank you for your love, your patience, and for your trust. Come with us.”<\/p>\n

The Band Perry’s supposed aspiration to transition from country to pop (as well as debate over what the group has and hasn’t said about such a transition) has been a popular discussion topic among music fans and journalists.<\/p>\n

The group’s 2015 single “Live Forever” received criticism for its poppy sound, while 2016 song “Comeback Kid” seemed to directly confront such ridicule.<\/p>\n
