The morning ratings report brought mixed news for CBS’ coverage of the 2017 People’s Choice Awards. The broadcast fell from last year’s mark in the key adults 18-49 demographic but posted a gain in total viewership.<\/p>\n
According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s ceremony averaged a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating and 6.66 million total viewers from 9-11PM. The first hour drew a 1.2 and 7.04 million, while the second hour posted a 1.2 and 6.28 million.<\/p>\n
Last year’s show averaged a 1.3 and 6.03 million. The numbers were down sharply from those of the 2015 broadcast.<\/p>\n
The 1.2 demo rating represents a low for the franchise.<\/p>\n
For what it’s worth, last year’s show received stronger lead-in support but also faced far steeper competition. The “American Idol” premiere and a new episode of “Modern Family” were among the shows to air opposite the 2016 PCAs.<\/p>\n
