By awards show standards, Sunday’s American Music Awards lineup was fairly wide-ranging.<\/p>\n

In featuring performances from acts like Sting, Green Day, Fifth Harmony, DJ Khaled’s “Do You Mind” team, Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, John Legend, Niall Horan, James Bay, Shawn Mendes and The Chainsmokers, the 2016 AMAs ceremony covered numerous bases. The only obvious omission — in the context of a mainstream show — was an act from the country space.<\/p>\n

The result was a show that, while not necessarily an artistic classic, likely appeased its audience. We’ll learn the size of that audience when the ratings emerge Monday morning.<\/p>\n
