Friday afternoon, Bruno Mars’ new “24K Magic” leapfrogged the Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey)” for #1 on the US iTunes single sales chart.<\/p>\n

Saturday evening, “Closer” recaptured its throne.<\/p>\n

A similar phenomenon played out with songs like Artists Of Then, Now & Forever’s “Forever Country,” Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion,” and Niall Horan’s “This Town.” These high-profile tracks were able to dethrone “Closer,” but they could not prevent the smash from quickly returning to #1.<\/p>\n

“Closer” premiered on July 29, and it has spent the majority of its run at #1.<\/p>\n
