“Don’t Breathe,” which debuted atop last weekend’s US box office chart, stays #1 this weekend. The film comfortably ranks as the top performer for the four-day, Labor Day Weekend.<\/p>\n
Studio estimates have the critically acclaimed horror film earning $19.6 million between Friday and Monday (bringing the cumulative total to $55.0 million). The tally easily tops the $12.8 million earned by #2 film “Suicide Squad.”<\/p>\n
That $12.8 million does, however, propel “Suicide Squad” past $300 million in the US (new cume: $300.2 million).<\/p>\n
“Pete’s Dragon” takes #3 on the four-day weekend chart with $8.6 million (new cume: $66.3 million), while fellow family-skewing flick “Kubo And The Two Strings” lands in fourth with $8.5 million (new cume: $36.4 million).<\/p>\n
“Sausage Party” grabs $5 thanks to a Labor Day Weekend haul of $6.5 million (new cume: $89.6 million).<\/p>\n
“The Light Between Oceans,” which earned a soft $5.9 million from 1500 screens, is the weekend’s top performer among new releases. It takes #8 on the overall chart.<\/p>\n
“No Manches Frida” grossed $4.7 million from 362 screens. While the total is only enough for #12 on the chart, the solid per-screen average easily ranks as the weekend’s best among films in the Top 25.<\/p>\n
“Morgan,” the widest new release, debuts at a disappointing #17 on the weekend chart.
