<\/a>Moviegoers have not yet kicked their “Hangover”–the film earned a second consecutive weekend atop the domestic box office.<\/p>\n
Estimates have “The Hangover” earning $33.4 million for the weekend, which gives it a comfortable margin over “Up,” the runner-up. Having dropped only 25.7% from last week’s take, “The Hangover” has crossed the $100 million threshold. At the same point in its cycle, 2005’s “Wedding Crashers,” which had a similar target audience and word-of-mouth appeal, had only grossed $80.4 million.<\/p>\n
“Up” stays at second place with $30.5 million, topping the $25 million for newcomer “The Taking of Pelham 123.” “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” and “Land of the Lost” rounded out the top five with $9.6 million and $9.2 million, respectively.<\/p>\n
Eddie Murphy’s box office struggle, meanwhile, continues–his new family comedy “Imagine That” bombed with $5.7 million. “Imagine”‘s first weekend only barely topped that of last year’s dud “Meet Dave,” which earned $5.3 million in its bow.<\/p>\n
