Terri Minsky, the creator of the classic Disney Channel series “Lizzie McGuire” has a new show coming to the network.<\/p>\n
Disney Channel has ordered “Andi Mack” to series. Minsky created and will executive produce the show, which is set for a 2017 bow.<\/p>\n
Production begins this fall in Salt Lake City; twelve-year-old newcomer Peyton Elizabeth Lee has been cast in the title role.<\/p>\n
“Andi only existed as words on a page until Peyton Lee walked into the room,” said Minsky. “I will never forget the magic of that moment \u2013 to meet the character I wrote. Actually, it wasn\u2019t until I met Peyton that I really knew who Andi was.”<\/p>\n
Per Disney, “‘Andi Mack’ centers around Andi as she\u2019s about to celebrate her 13th birthday. However, when her capricious older sister Bex returns home with the hope of getting her life together, Andi\u2019s life is turned upside down and she is left questioning everything she\u2019s ever known.”<\/p>\n
Other cast members include Lilan Bowden (“Zombie Apocalypse”) as Andi\u2019s sister Bex, Lauren Tom (“The Joy Luck Club,” “Friends”) as Andi\u2019s mother Celia, Joshua Rush (Disney\u2019s “The Lion Guard”) as Cyrus and Asher Angel (“Jolene”) as Jonah Beck.<\/p>\n
Betty Thomas directed the pilot, about which news emerged last fall. Michelle Manning will serve as an executive producer.<\/p>\n
