The good news: “Mr. Robot” was not overlooked during the Emmy Awards nomination cycle. The critically acclaimed USA Network series received six nominations, including nods for Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Lead Actor (Rami Malek).<\/p>\n
The bad news: one of the show’s strongest assets was<\/i> overlooked.<\/p>\n
Christian Slater, who plays the titular Mr. Robot and won the corresponding Golden Globe, was not nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Nominations instead went to Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage of “Game Of Thrones,” Ben Mendelsohn of “Bloodline,” Michael Kelly of “House Of Cards,” Jonathan Banks of “Better Call Saul,” and Jon Voigt of “Ray Donovan.”<\/p>\n
Still, it is hard to view Thursday’s announcement too negatively for “Mr. Robot,” a niche program airing on a cable network not known for success at the Emmys.<\/p>\n
As a series, “Mr. Robot” will contend with “Better Call Saul,” “Downton Abbey,” “Game Of Thrones,” “Homeland,” “House Of Cards,” and “The Americans.”<\/p>\n
Malek will compete with Kyle Chandler (“Bloodline”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”), Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan”) and Kevin Spacey (“House Of Cards”).<\/p>\n
