According to fast national data, CBS’ drama debuted with a mere 0.7 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. Its 3.53 million total viewership figure was also disappointing.<\/p>\n
Weak in any scenario, the numbers look particularly bad given the scheduling context. “American Gothic” aired out of CBS’ flagship summer series “Big Brother.”<\/p>\n
While down year-to-year (this year’s two-hour opener drew a 1.9 rating and 6.44 million in the 8PM hour and a 1.8 and 5.85 million in the directly supporting 9-10PM frame; last year’s 8-9PM premiere posted a 2.1 and 6.92 million), the show still provided “American Gothic” with ample lead-in support.
