Maren Morris’ “Hero,” which starts at an impressive #5 on the all-genre Billboard 200 consumption chart, debuts at #1 on Top Country Albums.<\/p>\n
“Hero” is 2016’s first debut album to start atop the chart, which ranks country albums based on pure US sales.<\/p>\n
Per Columbia Nashville, “Hero” sold 37K pure US copies in its first week of release. Track Equivalent Albums (track sales\/10) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (track streams\/1500) provided an additional 8K in weekly consumption units; the sum of 45K earns “Hero” the aforementioned #5 bow on the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n
Morris is the first artist in the history of the Columbia Nashville imprint to open at #1 with a debut album. She is the first female artist under the Sony Music Nashville umbrella to do so since Kellie Pickler in 2006.<\/p>\n
