Meghan Trainor’s new album “Thank You” is off to a markedly slower start than her previous release.<\/p>\n
According to Hits Daily Double, “Thank You” is pacing to sell just 70-80,000 pure US copies during the May 13-19 tracking week.<\/p>\n
Such a total would represent a decline of 59-64% from that of Trainor’s 2015 debut “Title,” which sold 195,000 pure copies in its inaugural frame.<\/p>\n
The switch to a Friday-Thursday release week has rendered early sales projections less accurate, so it is possible “Thank You” will end up besting the 70-80,000 projection (it is, of course, also possible that it will fall short of that range).<\/p>\n
What one can safely conclude, however, is that the debut sales total for “Thank You” will be considerably shy of that garnered by “Title.”<\/p>\n
With Track Equivalent Albums (10 track sales = 1 album unit) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 track streams = 1 album unit) added to the pure sales total, Hits says “Thank You” should generate 100-120,000 in weekly consumption units. “Title” debuted with 235,000 units, enough for #1 on the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n
With albums like Beyonce’s “Lemonade” and Drake’s “Views” in the mix, “Thank You” is unlikely to claim #1 on Top Album Sales.
