Following Wednesday’s elimination, “American Idol” has finally revealed its ninth final four.<\/p>\n
Neither critics nor viewers have been kind to this year’s “Idol” competition–the contestants have been torn to shreds by online journalists and bloggers, while viewership has trended downward into the lowest territory since season one. But an exciting final four absolutely possesses the ability to make up for the show’s struggles, and Wednesday’s results show revealed which four contestants would have the chance to make America forget this year’s negatives.<\/p>\n

It was announced Wednesday that Aaron Kelly received the lowest number of votes, clearing the way for Casey James, Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Michael Lynche to take the stage next week.<\/p>\n
Aaron, whose youth and upbeat personality helped him reach a seemingly improbable point in the competition, was not the absolute worst Tuesday–that honor would go to Casey–but he was not strong enough to turn this week’s elimination into any sort of travesty. He certainly has not been as consistently successful on stage as Lee, Crystal and Michael, and his elimination was thus neither surprising nor unfortunate for the fate of the show.<\/p>\n
