Given that even critically acclaimed series often fall in their second weeks, it should come as no surprise that the tepidly reviewed “Rush Hour” fell in week two.<\/p>\n
To the episode’s credit, it received lesser lead-in support in the adults 18-49 demographic. Its first few minutes were also contested by the final few minutes of the “American Idol” finale.<\/p>\n
Per fast national data shared by Showbuzz, Thursday’s “Rush Hour” drew a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating and 4.83 million total viewers. The viewership figure nearly matches the 5.06 million drawn last week, but the adults 18-49 rating is off 18% from last week’s 1.1.<\/p>\n
Such an adults 18-49 drop is not uncommon for a second episode, but insofar as last week’s premiere was modestly rated as it is, even a slight decline represents cause for concern.<\/p>\n
“Rush Hour” was not the only “down” component of CBS’ Thursday schedule.<\/p>\n
Flagship “The Big Bang Theory” fell to a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating and 13.24 million in total viewership against the first half-hour of the “Idol” finale. The numbers represent season lows, a reality unlikely to be changed even if the show receives slight upward adjustments in the final report. Last week’s episode drew a 3.5 and 14.24 million, tying a then-season low in the former and setting what then represented a season low in the latter.<\/p>\n
As for the rest of CBS’ night: “The Odd Couple” premiered its season with a 1.6 and 7.82 million at 8:30PM, while “Mom” (1.5, 7.30 million) and “2 Broke Girls” (1.4, 5.89 million) aired against the second hour of the “Idol” finale.<\/p>\n
The previous “Mom” drew a 1.7 and 7.88 million.
