Asked to choose between Trent Harmon and La’Porsha Renae, America decided on the former. He is the fifteenth — and final (at least as far as the current, FOX era goes) — winner of “American Idol.”<\/p>\n
Harmon’s victory comes on the heels of a performance show on which he performed his coronation single “Falling,” the classic “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” and Sia’s recent hit “Chandelier.”<\/p>\n
Renae performed her single “Battles” as well as “A House Is Not A Home” and “Diamonds.”<\/p>\n
News of Harmon’s victory came near the end of a two-plus-hour series finale that included appearances from the original judges and original co-host Brian Dunkleman and performances by a myriad of past contestants, including all of the previous winners. Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, the show’s most successful winners, received special attention, with the former’s appearance coming in the form of a pre-taped medley of her many hits and the latter joining Keith Urban for a duet before later singing her recent single “Something In The Water.”<\/p>\n
Following Thursday’s show, “Falling” began an upward move on the US iTunes sales chart. After spending the better part of the afternoon and evening in the #13-#20 range, “Falling” was up to #6 as of 1:50AM ET.<\/p>\n
Harmon is also charting at #90 with his Top 5 round performance “Sharp Dressed Man” and #99 with Top 4 performance “Drink You Away.”<\/p>\n
