Still, the fact that “Roses” entered the Top 5 — and spent many of the past twenty four hours ahead of the Top 3 “Idol” contestants’ official singles, which were all performed at least once on TV this week — speaks positively about the resonance of Bourg and his song.<\/p>\n

Update 4:<\/b> The west coast version of FOX’s “American Idol” finale has concluded, and MacKenzie Bourg’s “Roses” is still #5 on the US iTunes sales chart — and still outpacing the other “Idol”-associated singles.<\/p>\n
Granted, the race is closer than it was prior to the broadcast. On the heels of his victory, Trent Harmon’s official coronation single “Falling” is #6. Given the buzz over his win, it may leapfrog “Roses” in the coming hours.<\/p>\n
Still, the fact that a fourth-place singer’s post-show release is charting so well speaks volumes about both the resonance of the song and Bourg’s ability to mobilize his fanbase.<\/p>\n
“Battles,” which would have been the official coronation single had runner-up La’Porsha Renae defeated Trent Harmon, is #43. Third place finisher Dalton Rapattoni is at #66 with “Strike A Match.”<\/p>\n

Harmon’s “Falling” and Renae’s “Battles” — one of which will be this year’s official coronation single — are respectively positioned at #14 and #48 following Wednesday’s “Idol” performance show. Rapattoni’s “Strike A Match” is #60.<\/p>\n

As of 4:30PM ET, it is #8 on the listing and comfortably ahead of the three potential “American Idol” coronation singles released by finalists Trent Harmon and La’Porsha Renae and third place finisher Dalton Rapattoni.<\/p>\n
Harmon’s “Falling” is #14, while Renae’s “Battles” and Rapattoni’s “Strike A Match” are respectively #46 and #57.<\/p>\n

During a preliminary round of this year’s “American Idol” competition, contestant MacKenzie Bourg wowed — and judges — with a rendition of his original song “Roses.” Not simply a fan of Bourg’s performance, judge Keith Urban specifically praised the quality of the song.<\/p>\n
The song would become associated with Bourg throughout his “Idol” journey.<\/p>\n
It was recently launched on iTunes, and it is predictably making a huge splash on the sales chart.<\/p>\n
As of 11:50AM ET, “Roses” is up to #10 on the US all-genre listing. That puts it ahead of all other “Idol” recordings — including the three originals that were eyed as potential coronation singles.<\/p>\n
“Falling,” finalist Trent Harmon’s single, is #14 on the chart. Fellow finalist La’Porsha Renae is at #44 with “Battles,” while third place finisher Dalton Rapattoni holds #53 for “Strike A Match.”<\/p>\n
Those three singles, notably, were performed during Wednesday’s final “American Idol” performance show.<\/p>\n
