In recent days, Kenny Chesney has been teasing new music scheduled for a March 24 debut.<\/p>\n
A press release from Sony Music and EBM confirms the identity of the song: “Noise.”<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes you know you\u2019ve got something so timely, so right then, you have to grab it,\u201d says Chesney of the song. \u201cIt seemed like everywhere I turn, everywhere I go, there is so much stuff coming at you. Your phone, your car, on the streets, on TV. Everywhere it\u2019s just so loud, so much, so many different things \u2013 all pushing buttons, being sensational, shouting for attention. You can\u2019t escape it, and you can\u2019t turn it down.\u201d<\/p>\n
Per the official press release, Chesney recently walked into a marketing meeting — late and on the phone. On the other end of the call? Acclaimed songwriter Shane McAnally, with whom Chesney was working through the idea for “Noise.”<\/p>\n
By the time Chesney’s slate of tour and album marketing meetings was over, McAnally had finished the song with Ross Copperman and Jon Nite.<\/p>\n
\u201cWrecking balls, downtown construction\/ Bottles breaking, jukebox buzzing\/ Cardboard sign says \u2018The Lord is Coming\u2019\/ Tick tick tock…\u201d begins the country superstar’s new single. \u201cRumors turn the mills back home\/ Parking lot kids with the speakers blown\/ We didn\u2019t turn it on, but we can\u2019t turn it off off off…\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe chorus is very orderly, very much a staccato press,\u201d Chesney says. \u201cIf there\u2019s anything that sums up both the state of the world and the reality of what it costs us and feels like, it\u2019s that. It\u2019s all right there: \u2018We scream, we shout til we don\u2019t have a voice\/ In the streets, in the crowds, it ain\u2019t nothing but noise… drowning out all the dreams of this Tennessee boy\/ Just trying to be heard… in all this noise\u2019 says it all.\u201d<\/p>\n
