For the third straight week, Adele’s “25” appears dominantly atop the album sales chart.<\/p>\n
According to Hits Daily Double, the blockbuster album sold approximately 660,472 pure US copies during the December 4-10 tracking week.<\/p>\n
Due later this weekend, Billboard’s more authoritative number will differ slightly. The disparity will not, however, remotely change the final outcome: “25” is #1 on Top Album Sales, and the battle was not close.<\/p>\n
The ~660K weekly sales figure brings the US “25” cume comfortably past 5.1 million. It also more than triples the week’s next-strongest total.<\/p>\n
Coldplay’s new “A Head Full Of Dreams,” which generated that total, sold approximately 198,043 copies in its first week.<\/p>\n
The Adele and Coldplay albums will also take the top 2 respective spots on the Billboard 200, which accounts for pure sales, Track Equivalent Albums (track sales\/10) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (track streams\/1500). Such total consumption data should emerge by Sunday.<\/p>\n
