Update:<\/b> During halftime of Thursday’s Packers-Lions game, CBS made official what sites like Headline Planet broke earlier in the day: Coldplay is performing during the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.<\/p>\n

CBS made clear that Coldplay is the “first” of multiple acts to be confirmed for the show. The additional performers will be confirmed in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Thursday afternoon, CBS announced that Coldplay will play two songs on an upcoming “The Late Late Show With James Corden.”<\/a><\/p>\n

It neglected to mention a far higher-profile upcoming gig: the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.<\/p>\n

Per multiple sources, Coldplay has been confirmed as a halftime act for this year’s big game, which will be broadcast on CBS.<\/p>\n

CBS had been planning to announce the “first” halftime show artist during Thursday’s Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions game, and it appears Coldplay will be the artist announced.<\/p>\n

Given its universal recognition and arena rock proclivity, Coldplay has long been viewed as an obvious halftime show candidate.
