The bad news: it suffered a decline in the 8:30PM half hour, during which it faced competition from CBS’ “Supergirl” premiere.<\/p>\n
Per Nielsen fast national data, Monday’s “Gotham” posted a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating with 4.251 million total viewers. Both numbers top those of last week’s broadcast, which achieved a 1.3 with 4.186 million audience members.<\/p>\n
Intriguing about this week’s performance, however, is the fact that it suffered a clear decline in its second half-hour.<\/p>\n
Monday’s “Gotham” posted a 1.6 with 4.58 million viewers in the 8-8:30PM half hour and a 1.4 with 3.96 million viewers in the 8:30-9PM portion.<\/p>\n
While some suffered slight viewership declines in the second half hour, no second season “Gotham” episode endured one of this magnitude.<\/p>\n
None, moreover, suffered a half-hour-to-half-hour loss in adults 18-49.<\/p>\n
Airing out of “The Big Bang Theory,” CBS’ own superhero\/comic series “Supergirl” ran from 8:30-9:30PM portion. The 8:30-9PM half hour, which competed directly with the second half of “Gotham,” drew a significantly stronger 3.1 rating with 13.00 million viewers.<\/p>\n
Beginning next week, “Supergirl” will air from 8-9PM — and thus compete with the entirety of “Gotham.” It will be interesting to see how CBS’ series, which will air without the “Big Bang Theory” assistance that it received this week, impacts the weekly “Gotham” broadcast.<\/p>\n
