A low-key performance with few frills on a night filled with the spectacular and sensational, Lady Antebellum’s Grammy rendition of “Need You Now” failed to spark an immediate search crunch.<\/p>\n
Web users rushed to their computer to inquiry about performers like Green Day, Lady Gaga, Pink and even fellow country act the Zac Brown Band. But Lady Antebellum, the band set to debut atop the Billboard 200 with more than 400,000 first-week sales of sophomore “Need You Now,” was not included in the initial buzz surge.<\/p>\n
The performance nonetheless came up big in one of the most important post-show categories–iTunes sales.<\/p>\n
At press time, the band’s “Need You Now” was steadily in first place on the iTunes Singles sales list. Consistently in the top twenty five for the past few months, the trio’s single last peaked following the 2009 CMA Awards.<\/p>\n
Other early Grammy-related presence on the chart includes the Black Eyed Peas’ “Imma Be” (2), Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” (19), Mary J Blige & Andrea Bocelli’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (20), Green Day’s “21 Guns” (24), Shiny Toy Guns’ “Major Tom” (28) and the Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried” (32).<\/p>\n
Note that as many of these singles were consistent sellers, it is hard to conclude exactly how much of a lift the singles received from the Grammys.
