With three days of DVR viewing added to its total, last Wednesday’s “American Horror Story: Hotel” premiere still trails 2014’s “Freak Show” bow in a head-to-head viewership comparison.<\/p>\n
According to Nielsen and FX, “Hotel” reached 9.1 million total viewers on a live+3 basis. 6.13 million of those viewers fell within the adults 18-49 demographic; 3.70 million were adults 18-34.<\/p>\n
Last year’s “Freak Show” drew 10 million live+3 viewers; 6.54 million fell within adults 18-49 and 4.08 million were adults 18-34. It was the most-watched episode in FX history.<\/p>\n
“Freak Show” also outdrew “Hotel” on a live+same-day basis. The former drew 6.127 million viewers for its premiere; the latter reached 5.807 million.<\/p>\n
FX still believes the “Hotel” has a chance of overtaking “Freak Show” in the long run.<\/p>\n
“It is possible that it will rank as the network\u2019s most-watched telecast ever when full data is tabulated in approximately 60 days,” notes FX.<\/p>\n
